Bridal Timelines

You are engaged!!!! WOOOOO HOOOOO! Congratulations!

Now you have to plan a wedding - which is likely new territory - and you probably have so many questions about where to start and when to do what. We aren’t the expert with all things weddings (but we can recommend other great vendors who are experts in the other areas), but we do know a thing or two about deciding what to wear on your wedding day! We want to help answer all of your dress shopping timeline questions!

Say yes to the dress 8+ Months before you wedding day.

Bridal gowns can take anywhere from 4-9 months to be made and shipped to boutiques. At The Frock, our gowns takes 4-6 months to be produced, on average, in our designers’ ateliers. We then recommend having 2-3 months for the alterations process (more time never hurts). Also keep in mind that you will have to find a time to come pick up your gown once it arrives and want to leave a little wiggle room for any shipping delays. Therefore, if you want a stress free experience - lock in that gown at least 8 months before you say “I Do!”

A few other points to keep in mind:

  • More than 8 months is more than OK! In fact, it is great!! In so many cases, wedding plans may be adjusted based on the dress you choose (colors, bridesmaid dresses, groom’s attires, floral details, etc.). The sooner you choose a gown, the sooner you can finalize all the other details!

  • Some shops have been known to stretch the truth when it comes to timelines. There are stores out there who will tell you the dress is going to take 10 months when it will actually only take 5. They do this to close the deal by putting some pressure on. At The Frock we are 100% transparent about standard timelines and rush options. When you choose a gown we will give you the same estimated arrival date that our designer gives us, and we will notify you as soon as your gown arrives!

  • Speaking of rush options, if you are past the 8 month mark and haven’t found your frock - don’t freak out! We definitely have options for you. Depending on how much time you have, we can rush certain gowns for an additional fee and we have a collection of ‘Off the Rack’ gowns that can go home with you same day!
